DTN COMMENTS:   All is quiet in cash cattle country this afternoon with bids 
and asking prices yet to be established. Significant trade volume will likely 
be delayed until the second half of the week. New showlists appear to be 
mixed, higher in Texas, but lower in Kansas and Nebraska/Colorado. 

Today's slaughter totaled 116,000 head, 3,000 more than last week, but 4,000 
less than a year ago. Cattle futures closed sharply higher on both live (up 
212 to 285) and feeder (up 117 to 572) contracts. Beef cutouts are expected 
to close mixed with light to moderate box movement.
